Visa rules
Student visas in Russia are required for students from most foreign countries. Russia is not a member state of the EU/EFTA, so the EU visa-free entry privilege does not apply for European students. Required Documents for Study Visas in Russia:
A valid passport which will be valid for at least 18 months from the issue date of the visa and with at least two unmarked pages
An official invitation letter from your chosen university
Application form
A certificate showing your HIV-negative status no older than 90 days
A letter of consent from your parents and certified by a notary (if you're under 18)

Physics department
MIPT`s founders included academicians Pyotr Kapitsa, Nikolay Semenov and Sergey Khristianovich. Its first professors were Nobel Prize winners Kapitsa, Semenov and Lev Landau, and its first rector was Ivan Petrov.
MIPT has used a unique system for training specialists, known as the Phystech System, which combines fundamental science, engineering disciplines and student research.

Since 2013, MIPT involved in the federal project on increasing competitiveness of the leading Russian universities among the world's leading research and education centers. The purpose of the project is to maximize competitive position of a group of leading Russian universities in the global market of educational services and research programs.

Priority directions of development of the project MIPT 5-100:

  • search for personnel for educational and research activities among world-famous scientists;
  • create PostDocs, PhDs, Interns positions;
  • reduce barriers of academic mobility by improving the working and living conditions up to world level conditions;
  • create conditions and mechanisms for attracting funds of individuals and entities for the development of MIPT;
