Visa rules
Student visas in Russia are required for students from most foreign countries. Russia is not a member state of the EU/EFTA, so the EU visa-free entry privilege does not apply for European students. Required Documents for Study Visas in Russia:

MGIMO was the first in Russia to join the European Universities Association, to fully integrate into the Bologna process, spelling out strict standards for European educational institutions.
MGIMO consistently ranks highly in university ratings. «2015 Global Go To Think Tank» report issued by the University of Pennsylvania represented MGIMO among worldwide research leaders, e.g. № 30 in Think Tanks with the Most Significant Impact on Public Policy and № 12 in Top Think Tanks in Central and Eastern Europe.
Today MGIMO is successfully cooperating with more than 170 universities and institutions from more than 50 countries.
MGIMO has agreements with more than 200 foreign partners from 63 countries – universities, diplomatic academies, institutes, and research centers.
About university & International cooperation & Educational process
MGIMO is Russia's most revered educational institution with a wide range of educational programs and specializations. Enjoying the excellent reputation and high positions in academic ratings the University has built up a wide net of international contacts. The development of bilateral and multilateral contacts continues to be a key priority of the MGIMO strategy today.
Each year exchange programs with foreign universities see more than 100 international students enrolling at MGIMO for a semester or full academic year. Depending on their specialization, international exchange students choose from a variety of courses taught in Russian across different programs. They also regularly take advanced Russian language courses to improve their knowledge.

The University is focused on mutual Bachelor and Master degree educational programs which comply with the Bologna process. In recent years MGIMO has developed dual degree MA programs with universities in France, Italy, Germany and Norway.
